Seven Days of Devon (Plymouth)
Seven Days of Devon (Plymouth)
At the end of October, as the winter chills swept in, we headed to Devon for a week to celebrate a wedding. Though I’m a city girl at heart, I have a serious soft spot for nature, scenic surroundings and all things rustic – and so yes, I fell slightly in love. Quaint little roads, hilly views and picturesque houses, Plymouth was the escape I didn’t know I needed. And a sea view? Yes, please.
We spent most of the week either at wedding-related events (read: eating copious amounts of food whilst dressed to the nines), crashed out at our AirBnB after hours of travel, or spending our free time at the seafront to make the absolute most of the ocean view. We also checked out the ‘Poppies Wave’ at the Plymouth Naval Memorial overlooking the sea, just as the sun went down.
And finally, the night before we headed back home, we glimpsed one of the most beautiful sunsets over the ocean.
We found ourselves heading back to the seafront later that night, for a quiet reflective stroll and to catch a final hush of the waves brushing against the shore. And city girl that I am, I looked up and thanked God that I could see so many stars..
