Musings #9: Heatwaves & Holidays
And I’m back! Sorry, I know it’s been a month since my last post but normal service shall resume henceforth. Promise!
I took a break from full-on work for the first weeks of July; my birthday, our one year anniversary (I know, right?) and an impromptu seven-day trip to Istanbul meant that all I wanted to do was enjoy the heatwave by eating bucket loads of dondurma. We watched the World Cup at various cafes, which was brilliant until Croatia ended our dreams of glory a few days before we returned home..
That aside, I’ve been trying my hand at digital art for the first time; not that it’ll replace my current style, but I’ve always been curious.
I’ve been using the ‘Sketchbook – Draw and Paint’ Android app on a Samsung tablet, and it’s been an interesting learning curve so far. At the start, I was ready to surrender back to good old pencil on paper but perseverance pays off; I concede that digital art is enjoyable in its own right.
Mainly, I love that it’s so travel-friendly, as well as the endless possibilities available at your fingertips – an unthinkable range of brush types and sizes, ability to undo previous actions, add layers and create various effects and transformations all within one device.
Finally, I have a whole line-up of posts coming your way with discussions ranging from creativity to travel. As always, let me know if you have any specific requests.
