Completed Art: ‘Eyup Sultan Tile’

I’ve finally finished working on this piece today – in between traveling, family events and a dry chesty cough (try outlining whilst having a coughing fit every five minutes!). The ‘Eyup Sultan tile’ piece is more of a study as I wanted to experiment with watercolour and depth where I’d usually only use gouache. I’m quite pleased with the outcome, and I did enjoy building opacity and pigment where I wanted. Something about the fluidity of watercolour is therapeutic and I loved spending time with it.
I also really wanted to replicate this beautiful tile from Eyup Sultan Camii, Istanbul.
Here are some images of the final piece. More to come on my Instagram feed!
